Overview

Beach Cities Learning is looking for a Full-Time Behavior Interventionist to work with students for our location in San Gabriel, CA.

 

We are looking for candidates with experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, experience with toileting, and extensive ABA experience.

 

This position comes with the benefits and starts at an hourly rate of $21.00

 

In each of the Autism classrooms, our instructors utilize the STAR program (Strategies for Teaching Based on Autism Research) as well as the Unique Learning System which utilizes standards-based instruction delivered through a variety of interactive tools and are differentiated for learners of all ability levels.

 

Learn Academy is an innovative non-public school program, which serves the educational needs of special education students between the ages of 6 to 22. Designed to provide a stimulating, supportive, academically challenging and therapeutic program for students struggling in the public school arena. We provide students with the tools needed to be successful in school and life.

Responsibilities

As a Behavior Interventionist, you’ll be a part of a school-based special education team. You’ll provide assistance to the teacher in the implementation of all program components such as: Clinical Program, Instruction, Special Education Services and Physical Fitness. You will be supported by a mentor, veteran behavior technicians and an on-site administrator manager.

  • Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students and monitor ability to follow directions and behavior.
  • Ride in school van to pick children up in the morning and drop them off in the afternoon.
  • Collect data regarding student(s) reaching goals/objectives as directed by licensed staff. Assist staff in maintaining charts and other records related to student(s) progress.
  • Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide the student with opportunities to practice.
  • Assist student in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Implement district approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and required by the building administration and licensed staff.

 Note: This is a 10-month position for the 2024-2025 school year. 

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with children in a special needs education setting
  • Ability to collaborate and receive to feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisors
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective at all times, with the ability to not internalize or personalize (e.g. emotionally) in regard certain student behaviors or mannerisms that occur.
  • Demonstrated experience using physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g. self, student, other employees
  • PCMA Certification a plus.

Compensation Range

$20 - $25 / hour
