Overview

Learn Academy is looking for a full-time ATP Special Education Teacher or Intern teacher for the 23-24 SY at our location in Fresno, with Moderate/Severe Extensive Support Need teaching or intern teaching credential (must have sub teaching credential for intern teacher).  An ATP Teacher at Beach Cities Learning/Learn Academy assists students with disabilities and their families in obtaining services necessary to transition from high school to a post-secondary setting, whether for post-secondary education, employment, or long-term support.

 

Starting salary $56k-$75k, based on experience and credentials.  We offer tuition reimbursement, relocation assistance and an Induction Program to clear credential. 

Responsibilities

The Transition and ATP Teacher will provide comprehensive and specialized academic instruction (Transition Services) to students in the Transition Program, including student ages 18-22 that are in the ATP ( Adult Transition Program) and have developmental and physical disabilities. 

Instruction will be provided across all environments including the classroom, community, and job site. The primary goal of the Transition and ATP Teacher is to provide specialized instruction in an individualized program for students in order to prepare them for life after high school. The Transition and ATP Teacher will collaborate closely with the job coach to teach transition skills necessary for the student to integrate into the community per IEP goals and the ITP. The primary goal of the Transition and ATP Teacher is to provide specialized instruction in an individualized program for students in order to prepare them for a post-secondary life. Duties: Participate in transdisciplinary team meetings, multidisciplinary staffings, annual reviews, parent conferences, and faculty meetings. Provides direct instruction to students with disabilities that is designed to meet their individual transition needs. Communicate frequently with parents. Elicit parent input in educational planning and implementation. Collaborate with team members to develop, modify, and provide progress monitoring on goals/objectives on student ITP/IEPs. Ensure that transition goals/objectives are outcome-based, longitudinal, and measurable. Community Instruction. Design, revise, and maintain a class schedule consisting of activities developed from student IEP goals/objectives. Assess student’s Transition needs and provide a stand alone report at Triennial IEP’s

Qualifications

  • Valid California Special Education Credential in Extensive Support Need
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 1 year of experience working with students with emotional disabilities preferred
  • Spanish speaking a plus.  Not required.

 

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (stoop, reach, stand, kneel, squat, sit, walk, lift, pull, grasp) for extended periods of time 
  • Must be willing and able to implement safety measures consistent with Professional Crisis Management Association (PCMA) such as: therapeutic holds and transportation procedures utilizing quick body movements in the course of maintaining the safety of students with special needs

Compensation Range
